NEET UG 2026 Fee Refund Process Begins: NTA Opens Bank Detail Submission Window for Eligible Candidates

National Testing Agency (NTA) has released a major update regarding the NEET (UG)-2026 fee refund process. The agency has officially activated the refund facility on the NEET UG 2026 registration portal, allowing eligible candidates to submit their bank account details online for the refund process. This update is extremely important for lakhs of medical aspirants across India who have been waiting for clarity regarding the refund procedure. According to NTA, candidates must submit their preferred bank account details before the deadline of May 27, 2026, till 11:50 PM. After this deadline, no further submissions or modifications will be accepted by the agency. NTA stated that this special facility has been made available specifically for candidates who are eligible for the refund under the prescribed criteria. To access the refund link, candidates need to log in to the NEET UG registration portal using their application credentials such as application number and password. Once logged in, they will be required to carefully fill in their bank account information including account holder name, account number, IFSC code, and bank name so that the refund amount can be transferred directly to the correct account without any issues. The agency has also provided an optional feature where candidates can upload a cancelled cheque to verify the accuracy of the bank details submitted. However, NTA clarified that uploading the cancelled cheque is not mandatory. Candidates can complete the process even without uploading this document. NTA further emphasized that once the bank account information is submitted, it will be treated as final and no correction or change will be allowed afterward. Therefore, students have been strongly advised to enter all details carefully to avoid payment failures or delays in receiving the refund amount. The agency specifically instructed candidates to read all guidelines mentioned in Annexure-I before completing the process. NTA also shared this important announcement through its official social media platform X. In the official notice, the agency referred to the earlier public notice dated May 12, 2026, and informed candidates that the fee refund process has now been activated through a dedicated facility on the registration portal. The notice further stated that all eligible candidates must complete the bank detail submission process within the given timeline because the portal will automatically close after the last date. Education experts believe that this move by NTA is aimed at making the refund process faster, more transparent, and student-friendly. In previous years, many candidates had complained about delays and confusion related to refund procedures. This time, however, NTA appears to be taking extra precautions to ensure a smooth experience for students. NEET is one of India’s largest medical entrance examinations, conducted every year for admission into MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other medical courses. Due to the massive number of applicants, even small updates related to exam fees and refunds become highly significant for students and parents alike. In many cases, candidates become eligible for refunds because of duplicate fee payments, registration issues, or other technical reasons. That is why this latest update has gained major attention among aspirants preparing for medical admissions. NTA also clarified that only candidates fulfilling the eligibility conditions will receive the refund. Therefore, students are advised to carefully check the official notification and confirm whether they qualify for the refund process or not. Experts are also advising students not to wait until the final day because heavy traffic on the website during the last few hours may create technical issues or slow down the submission process. Candidates are encouraged to complete the process as early as possible to avoid last-minute problems. In addition, students should ensure that the bank account details match the information submitted during registration to prevent verification issues. The launch of this refund facility is being seen as an important relief measure for NEET UG 2026 aspirants. At present, candidates are eagerly waiting for further updates regarding the timeline of the actual refund transfer into bank accounts. For now, NTA has only started the bank detail submission process, while additional instructions regarding refund disbursement are expected soon. Students are advised to regularly visit the official websites of National Testing Agency through NTA Official Website and NEET Official Portal for the latest updates and official announcements regarding the NEET UG 2026 fee refund process.
