The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially declared the NEET UG 2026 Re-Examination Result, bringing relief to lakhs of medical aspirants across the country. The results were announced on 16 July 2026 through the official NEET website, allowing candidates to download their scorecards using their application number and date of birth.
The declaration of the result marks the end of one of the most discussed examination cycles in recent years. Following the decision to conduct a re-examination for eligible candidates, students eagerly awaited their scores, which will now determine their eligibility for admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other undergraduate medical courses in India.
According to the National Testing Agency, more than 11.21 lakh candidates have qualified in the NEET UG 2026 Re-Examination. The results reveal a highly competitive performance, with 19 candidates scoring above 700 marks and 138 candidates securing more than 690 marks.
This year, Aryan Gupta from Punjab and Panshul Bansal from Haryana emerged as the top performers in the re-examination. Both students secured 715 marks out of 720, making them the highest scorers in the examination. Their exceptional performance reflects the intense competition among medical aspirants across the country.
Along with the result, the NTA has also released the Final Answer Key for the NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam. The final answer key contains the officially accepted answers after reviewing all objections submitted by candidates. The results have been prepared based on this final answer key, and no further challenges or objections will be accepted by the agency.
Candidates can now access their individual scorecards through the official NEET portal. The scorecard includes important details such as the candidate’s name, roll number, application number, subject-wise marks, total score, percentile, All India Rank (AIR), category rank, qualifying status, and other admission-related information. Students are advised to carefully verify all details mentioned on their scorecards and immediately contact the NTA if they notice any discrepancy.
With the declaration of the results, the focus now shifts towards the NEET UG 2026 counselling process. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) is expected to announce the counselling schedule shortly. Qualified candidates will be required to register online, complete choice filling and locking, participate in seat allotment rounds, verify their documents, and report to the allotted colleges within the prescribed deadlines.
The counselling process will include admissions under the 15% All India Quota, while individual state counselling authorities will conduct admissions for the 85% State Quota seats. Separate counselling processes will also be conducted for AIIMS, JIPMER, Central Universities, Deemed Universities, and other participating institutions.
Candidates are advised to keep all essential documents ready before the counselling process begins. These include the NEET scorecard, admit card, Class 10 and 12 mark sheets, identity proof, passport-size photographs, category certificate (if applicable), PwD certificate (if applicable), domicile certificate, and other documents specified by the counselling authorities.
Meanwhile, the NTA has also issued an important update regarding the NEET UG 2026 fee refund process. The last date for candidates to submit their bank account details for refund has been extended until 31 July 2026. Eligible candidates who have not yet completed the process are advised to update their bank details on the official portal before the deadline to ensure timely processing of their refunds.
Education experts believe that the overall competition this year remains extremely high despite the re-examination. Since lakhs of students have qualified, securing admission to top government medical colleges will depend on a candidate’s All India Rank, category, reservation status, and the availability of seats during counselling. Students are therefore advised to participate in every round of counselling to maximize their chances of securing a medical seat.
